Fun Things I Did Today (March 31, 2021)

I sold my old video card and upgraded my PC!

Ignore the messy fan cables, I remounted so they ran out the back side instead.

This was my first time installing an AIO water cooler, it was a lot simpler than I thought it was going to be! I only ran into a couple of hiccups, first I accidentally got some thermal grease on the pins of the cpu but some cotton swabs and 95% isopropyl did the trick. The other thing was remounting fans like seven times since despite how much I thought about it I kept putting them the wrong way around.

I doubled my cpu cores to 16 with a new 3950x which is running fantastically so far! Microcenter had a great deal on them that ends on 4/1 so I decided to just go for it instead of just doing the water cooler.
It also turns out the motherboard I thought I fried is perfectly fine! So I swapped that into my old pc with most of the hand me down parts and now I have nearly double the performance on that machine!

I am super excited for supercard’s new wrestlemania 37 tier and now I can really get into it! Most of the upgrade took place during the server downtime… but as luck would have it, as soon as the Supercard servers were back up, there was a local internet outage! I took that as a sign I should get a bit of sleep since I’d been going on these projects all day.
