Five Things I Loved About Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

After Kamehameha blasting away at enemies in Fortnite all week, I finally got out to the theater to see the new Dragon Ball film, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero! I loved pretty much everything about it, but here are my personal highlights… (Slight Spoilers Ahead!)

  1. Animation! The animation was excellent! Especially the energy effects, it felt like it took a page out of the effects in Into the Spider-Verse! There are some very like scribbly things that look very cool, and there is a whole part about sound effects appearing on screen.

  2. Product placement! Okay this is kind of a joke entry, but I really did want to get some Oreos every time we saw them on screen. The best cookie! But why don’t they make double stuf thins?? Regular amount of creme, half the amount of cookie, it would be perfect.

  3. Transformations! Multiple fighters got new transformations we haven’t seen before!

  4. Kaiju?! Oh man I wasn’t expecting a huge kaiju style battle, this was pretty awesome to close out the film!

  5. History! Much like the previous film Broly, this story called back to so much of Dragon Ball’s history all the way back to the original series, but also stands on its own as a great entry point into this universe!

I really hope we see another new film soon, especially since this one focuses almost entirely on the fighters on Earth while Goku and Vegeta are away training on Beerus’ planet! I highly recommend checking out the Dragon Ball Super manga in the meantime, it covers a lot of the same ground as the Super anime but then continues beyond that!
